Pamela Wingard

ARTIST BIO:

IMG_021-1000-Wingard.jpg

Pam enjoys the bold use of color and brush strokes to create her loose, painterly style.  She utilizes various materials in her work, including cold wax, graphite, oil sticks, and oil pastels to add layers of line, color, and texture.

Pam grew up in a small town in the Midwest where she read lots of library books, drew in her sketchbook, and dreamed of being a traveling photojournalist. She has lived in four U.S time zones but would rather have her toes in the sand than anywhere else.

Her work is available in various locations in the Southeast and online. She lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband and sons.

ARTIST STATEMENT:

I traded in my high heels and my corporate job to stay at home with my two boys and figure out what was next for me. I began drawing and painting again for the first time in years. I experimented with different materials and subjects until I found what I loved the most: places. I began painting contemporary landscapes in my loose, painterly and abstracted style. I started blogging about art, business, and living creatively at A Barefoot Artist. My youngest son just headed off to college and I hope to grow my art business, paint every day, and connect with other creative women through words and pictures.

“I paint much like I cook. I have a recipe in mind, but throw in a few ingredients that sound good together. I don’t measure and I find my way as I go. Much like the way I’d like to live my life, now that I think about it.”
