Maggie B. French
Maggie B. French is a painter and illustrator from Charlotte, NC. Maggie received her BFA in Studio Art from UNC-Chapel Hill. After graduating, she taught elementary and middle school art for a few years while growing a wedding illustration business on the side. In 2018, Maggie and her husband moved to Savannah, GA and it was there that she began to pursue art full-time. While still continuing her illustration work, Maggie began painting abstracted marsh scenes based on weekend kayaking adventures. Maggie moved back to Charlotte in 2021 and continues to paint both low country and high country scenes.
Captivated by the oxymoron of the wildness and stillness of the lowcountry, Maggie paints the marsh with bright colors and gestural mark-making. From the low country to the high country, Maggie focuses on capturing the essence and emotion of local landscapes.
